Written Before Surgery
I wrote This One's For My Heart just before open-heart surgery — not as a farewell, but as a thank-you. A love song to my own heart for carrying me this far, and to every heart that keeps showing up for the people it loves.
It's also a thank-you to the people who stood close around that season: the quiet check-ins, the prayers, the ordinary kindness that somehow felt enormous. This song holds all of that.
It's my first country song — from a pop-rock singer who finally let the story sit in a quieter room. Warm, plain, and meant to be felt more than explained.
A Country Version is coming later
Another vocalist. Same song. A second way into the story.
